Bodywork for the Active
A bit about me

While it is still just the the start of the 2010 Triathlon season, I am so happy with the progress I have made with Dave Ciaverella of Summit coaching.  I highly recommend you check them out. http://www.summitpc.net/. I have trained injury free for over 27 weeks.  I have raced only 2 Triathlons this year 1 olympic distance race and almost did as well as I did 8 years ago, and I had a flat tire to change.    I raced the Pacific Crest Triathlon HIM, and beat my time from last year by well over an hour. I made many mistakes along the way  but I truly believe I am at a fitness level comparable to 2002 and 2003.  The years I have all my PR's  in Triathlon.

Being part of the Ironhead Multisport team has been a much bigger factor than I could imagine, the support  is great. I can not express how the team dynamic has changed my attitude towards triathlon.

that is the recent stuff, I  am signed up for the Lake Steven 70.3  I hope to have fun and continue to be active.

I have always been a physically active person.  The upcoming 2010 season I have decided to prepare  and race more, my focus will be to participate, but this year I intend to enjoy the races from the start to the finish.  I also became part of the Ironhead multisport team, I am a rookie to the team concept in triathlon but am excited to take this next step in Triathlon.

The 2009 season was a challenge to balance all my activities,  I failed to run enough to prepare for my 7th Pacific Crest 1/2 Ironman, I used the lesson, ran more  and had a much better time at the Hulaman 1/2. In 2008 my main activity was biking I  participated in Race Across Oregon, as a member of a 2 person.  It was  a great introduction to ultra cycleing. I love trail running with my dogs, we have ran the Peterson Ridge rumble, my dogs even had race numbers.  We will be getting back on the trail as it gets colder and wetter.

I decided to enter East West College of Healing Arts to become a Licensed Massage Therapist, while trail running.

I have had many of the overuse injuries, that go along with being a recreational athlete. The bodywork I received has helped me continue doing what I enjoy getting outside and training for the next event.
During my education at East West College I found Thai Massage, to be the perfect compliment to endurance sports, it is passive yoga routine where the LMT puts the client through a series of stretches, compressions of muscles and movement of joints.  Thai is also a great way to ground oneself, relax and and be energized all at the same time.  Thai Massage helps with posture, range of motion, and increasing circulation.  Thai Massage has done wonders for my core strength and flexibility.  I am able to run bike hike even stand longer than I have for several years.

I grew up wrestling finishing my career at Pacific University. After 4 years of living and working overseas, first as a Peace Corps volunteer in Sri Lanka and then as an ESL Teacher in Korea, I came back to the sport as a coach. I had ran several marathons and was making my transition to triathlon and soon had completed 4 Ironman distance triathlons, as well as several triathlons of shorter distances. I am a proud middle of the pack finisher.  I recently decided to partcipate and stop "racing". One does not have to race to enjoy the race it is really about getting out moving and having fun.

Nangi me Bala and Janet not racing the Mt. Hood Scramble

Race across Oregon was  pretty hot, I think this was on Bakeoven Road
